About Circus Space

Based in a magnificent Victorian power station adjacent to Hoxton Square, Circus Space is one of Europe’s leading providers of circus education. Every year the school involves thousands of people in the creation and performance of circus arts.

Circus Space’s diverse range of work includes the Foundation Degree, the UK’s only BA (Hons) Degree in Circus Arts and the Postgraduate Certificate. Circus Space is a founding member of the European Federation of Professional Circus Schools (FEDEC) and is involved in the development of Circus Arts training across Europe.

The outstanding facilities that Circus Space provides and the exceptional teachers who work there make for a supportive and stimulating environment in which to learn. Circus Space recognises the importance of both technical prowess and performance ability; in order to ensure that these are developed equally regular physical training in a student’s chosen discipline is complemented by a wide range of performance experiences. Final year students have performed their ensemble show to thousands of people in front of the National Theatre.

Circus Space joined the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama in 2004.

Alumni

The programme is instrumental in the creation and development of contemporary circus arts in the UK.

Recent graduates have worked with companies including NoFit State Circus and Cirque du Soleil and performed in shows ranging from London International Mime Festival to Pericles at the Globe Theatre as well as establishing acclaimed companies such as Collectif and Then… and Mimbre.

Access for disabled people

Circus Space welcomes applications from disabled people. The premises are fully accessible to wheelchair users. Places on courses are offered on the basis of potential and suitability for a career in any of the areas taught.
