The Directors’ Cuts season is a programme of contemporary theatre presented by the four graduating directors from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and featuring work by acting, design and production students.
Now in its fourteenth year and at The Wardrobe Theatre for the fourth time, the Directors’ Cuts season is firmly established in the Bristol theatre calendar. It has a reputation for showcasing fresh, vibrant and cutting edge theatre work by some of the finest emerging talent in UK theatre.
Diverse and highly charged, this is a season of provocative plays which all have an important relevance in today’s society.

Beane is an eccentric introvert who falls in love with a burglar named Molly. His sister Joan’s relationship with her husband Harry is falling apart. All their lives are transformed by Beane’s new romance, but Molly’s true identity is a secret so shocking it cannot be ignored…

In North of Providence a brother and sister are uncovering old wounds on the last day of their father’s life.

Jonah leaves the religious commune he has grown up in, in a small rural community to head to London with a red suitcase and a need to start living his life. Sophie just wants to be seen by someone, so she doesn’t fade away. Little do either of them know what will happen when Jonah moves in to the flat downstairs.
