LAMDA | Drama
Written by David Eldridge
Directed by Penny Cherns
Performed in The Carne Studio Theatre
Premiering at the Royal Court Theatre in 2000, Under the Blue Sky was revived in the West End in 2008 and went on to win the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play. David Eldridge’s play is a bright, funny and emotional triptych of love stories. And an all too recognisable portrayal of uncertainties, misunderstandings and the unsaid leading to unexpected results for three couples who seem destined never to say the right thing.
A delicate exploration of the degrees of love – from fondness and affection through to the heady rush of a drunken romp – as three pairs of teachers discuss love and lust, obsession and happiness in three touching and subtly linked love stories.
