The Conservatoire holds an annual Staff Conference, an opportunity for staff from across the eight schools to meet, network, share practice and propose initiatives.
The inaugural conference, The Next Step, took place in 2006, and since then staff have come together for The Power of Eight (2008), Illuminate (2010), Collaborate (2011), Participate (2012), Activate (2013) and Accelerate (2015).
The conference is an opportunity to celebrate and share the expertise of staff from across the Conservatoire, and to welcome guest speakers and workshop leaders from within the higher education and performing arts sectors. The most recent conference incorporated tracks on TDAP, Behind the Scenes, Student Support, The Student Experience, Teaching and Training, and The Future of the Conservatoire. Guest speakers included Talia Rodgers from Routledge Theatre & Performance Studies on some of the exciting new opportunities in digital performance publishing and practice-as-research, and Professor Matthew Wyon, Professor in Dance Science at the University of Wolverhampton, on the use of periodization techniques as a tool in changing dance curriculum.
Since the introduction of the annual Student Conference, this event has also been an opportunity for staff to hear key messages and recommendations from students.BOOK NOW >
