Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

Production Arts (Stage and Screen) – BA (Hons)

Stage Management, Lighting & Electrics, Sound & Scenic Crafts.

The BA Hons Production Arts (Stage and Screen) provides a broad-based training, combining theatre, TV/film and radio drama production skills.

In the first three terms the course provides a grounding in all the core production disciplines needed to work as a professional.

Within this, students learn theoretical and practical aspects of stage management, lighting, sound, prop-making and scenic construction. Students also learn a range of common skills: communication, problem solving, time management and leadership.

In the second year, BA Hons students then broaden their training by being involved in a range of theatre productions and film/radio drama recordings, including one 11-week term based at our Christchurch Studios in Clifton village. Students work on location film shoots, stop-motion animation and audio recordings.

In their final year, students specialise in their chosen discipline and continue training in either theatre production or in film and TV.

Applications to this course are through UCAS. For more information about this course and how to apply, visit the school course page.
