I’m Pete Wilmott, and I’m training in the Bristol old Vic Theatre School, and I’m on the 2 year diploma course to be a stage manager. I’ve been wearing hearing aids since I was four. I’ve always wanted to come here really but unfortunately didn’t get in the first time.
Certainly the carpentry and construction workshop it’s very noisy in there. So consequently to quieten it down I turn my hearing aids off. But obviously if somebody wants to contact me, you know, I’ve got them still off, you know. If my tutor needs to get hold of me the first thing he does it try and get visual contact, but if he can’t get visual contact then he’ll give me a slight tug or something. Then I know full well that somebody wants me.
I’d like to be a lighting designer because with lighting designing you’re very visual and I’m really good at putting a visual image on to stages. I love that and trying to work out what sort of surroundings, what sort of effects could I use?
