Fees and financial support

In this section you will find information about fees and financial support for higher education courses at the Conservatoire schools.

The Conservatoire is a publicly-funded institution which is registered with the Office for Students. UK students new to higher education are eligible for Student Finance. The Conservatoire and its Schools also provide financial aid which students may be eligible for, depending on their financial circumstances.

For the majority of the schools, applications are direct to the school, and for some courses delivered by Bristol Old Vic Theatre School you will need to apply through UCAS. This does not affect your ability to access financial support.

EU students

The UK left the EU in January 2021. The rules on funding have changed for EU students who are planning to study in the UK on a course starting in 2021 and beyond.  Please see the following link for more details:

In the information below, fees will either be classed as ‘Home’ fees or ‘Overseas’ fees.  Whether an applicant is classed as having ‘Home fee’ or ‘Overseas fee’ status will be governed by the UK Government’s rules on residence.

‘Home’ fee status will normally include, subject to the UK government rules on residence, UK students, Isle of Man students and Republic of Ireland students.  All other students who do not meet the residence requirements to be classed as having ‘Home’ fee status will be classed as having ‘Overseas’ fee status.

Citizens of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland studying, or planning to study in the UK may in previous years have qualified for ‘Home’ fee status due to arrangements under the EU in place whilst the UK was a member of the EU.  However, these citizens should be aware that for courses beginning in autumn 2021 and beyond, if they do not meet the residence requirements to be classed as having ‘Home’ fee status, they will be classed as having ‘Overseas’ fee status.
